Savanna Suite – This magnificent suite is a beautiful thatched bush home. It comprises two large stylishly furnished bedrooms on opposite sides of an inter-connecting lounge. Each has an en-suite bathroom with bathtub, his and hers basins and in- and outdoor shower. The bedrooms’ huge glass doors open up onto decks with plunge pools, with pristine views of the waterholes. The lounge area oozes classic elegance and comfort and include an opulent fireplace with cosy reading nook. It is also equipped with a TV (multi-channel access) and DVD recorder. An attached fully equipped kitchen and guest restroom completes the offering. The Savanna Suite is a popular choice among families and groups of friends wishing to spend quality time together. The suite also comes with its own private butler, safari vehicle and dedicated ranger and tracker. A luxurious bush stay does not get better than this!

Luxury Suites – Four Luxury Suites. These four luxury suites are positioned amid beautiful indigenous trees that attract a rich variety of birdlife. Under canvas, they also boast luxury facilities but are slightly smaller. They are all superbly styled and offer utmost comfort and luxury. The bedroom ceilings are beautifully draped, creating an intimate ambiance of romance. The beautiful tented roofs blend perfectly into the bush surrounds and solid walls provide security. Each suite has an en-suite bathroom, his and her basins, as well as and in- and outdoor shower. Huge glass doors open up onto a private deck with sweeping views of the bush. Here guests can refresh in the plunge pool whilst watching the wildlife quenching their thirst at the waterhole. At Savannah Game Lodge guests can enjoy gourmet dining, an integral part of the holistic Savanna experience. All the menus are perfectly paired with award-winning wines from the cellar, both local and imported, and there is no compromise on taste and presentation. Scrumptious cuisine can be enjoyed in various locations such as the dining room, deck, in the boma around the fire or even in a clearing in the bush. Lanterns and candles create a magical ambiance to dine in at night. Private dinners can also be served in your suite upon request. High teas are accompanied by delectable freshly baked treats from the kitchen. The children’s menu will appeal to young palates as it comprises of all the foods that young bush babies enjoy. Guest can enjoy early-morning and late afternoon/early-evening game drives in open safari vehicles during which an experienced ranger and tracker will utilise their expert knowledge to track your favourite animals. These vehicles have been meticulously modified for guests’ comfort and safety with bucket seats separated by large storage boxes. Seating only two occupants per row, it provides for optimal photo opportunities. In the early morning the bush is at its most active, as the animals go about their daily business before the heat sets in. Guests will enjoy a coffee/tea stop during which they can enjoy the Savannah Amarula twist on your usual coffee. Upon your return to camp you can indulge in a scrumptious brunch. In the late afternoon, as the bush begins to cool down from the onslaught of the sun, you will once again set out in search for the Big Five - lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino. Catching sight of an elusive leopard resting in a tree at dusk, is a reward like no other. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the magic of an African sunset, whilst enjoying a refreshing cocktail at a scenic spot in the bush. And then, when the sun dips its head behind the horizon, it is time to take out the spotlight. Nocturnal creates now come out to play and the sight of a pair of eyes glaring back in the spotlight is a thrill like no other. All the adrenalin will work up an appetite, and you will be ready to sit down for a scrumptious supper in the boma around the fire. Here, amid friendly banter and superb food and wine, strangers become friends as they share their bush experiences around the open fire.


Those who appreciate a bit more adrenaline can put on their walking boots for a unique encounter in the wilderness. On foot, under the guidance of an armed and expert ranger, guests can opt for an early-morning bushwalk, guaranteed to thrill. It opens up a whole new perspective of the African wilderness. This is an up-close encounter with the bush, as the intricacies of Mother Nature and her secrets will leave you inspired and in awe. The trackers, who have grown up in this area, will also impart a wealth of information on the uses of indigenous trees and plants and their medicinal properties and applications. Tracking one of the Big Five on foot, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Nerves of steel and a relative fitness level required. Walks usually take place in-between game drives and meals, but a longer walk can also replace a drive or be incorporated into a game drive.  


With more than 400 recorded bird species, avid birders will be spoiled for choice at Savanna Game Lodge. Whether scouring the bush with your binoculars from your private deck, or searching for your feathered favorites on safari or during a bush walk, the bird offering will not disappoint. The rangers are experts in ornithology, and will gladly share their knowledge with you. Expect to see species such as the bateleur, black-bellied bustard, Burchell’s coucal, comb duck and red-billed ox pecker, to name but a few.  


Savanna guests are welcome to use the gym during their stay. Boasting equipment such as a treadmill, elliptical machine, recumbent bike, exercise bike, free weights, dual adjustable pulley, chest press and leg curl machine, this air-conditioned space is perfect for working up a sweat. The gym also features satellite television, DVD access and an iPod docking station.  


Bushbaby Activities Children of all ages are welcome at the Savanna Suite, when booked by families. Regrettably no children under 8 are permitted at the main lodge. The young ones can enjoy a range of activities tailor-made to entertain and educate.Each child receives a goodie bush bag with items to add to their safari experience. All items collected from the activities during your child’s stay, will be compiled in a scrapbook, showing all the items they learned about and have collected. The various kids’ activities include:
  • Spoor identification. Tracking of small animals with your tracker and guide
  • Find our Small 5. This focuses on teaching children the different animal spoor and droppings, as well as tracking techniques. Children are taught how to follow animals and look for distinguishing signs.
  • Plant uses. Plants and their medicinal properties are explained. Children can collect different plants during their walk and discover what can be used as substitutes for toothbrushes, toilet paper etc.
  • Birdwatching. The field guide will explain how to do identify birds and recognize their calls.
  • Butterfly and bug catching. The kids learn more about the tiny inhabitants of the bush.
  • Picnics in the bush. A bush picnic will replenish spent energy.
  • Traditional hair braiding. Kids can have their hair braided by Tsonga women who are masters of this ancient craft.
  • Kitchen activities. Kids take to the kitchen to make and bake yummy treats.
  • Face painting. The young once can choose from a variety of animal faces.
  • Star drives. The children can enjoy a night drive to learn about the stars (weather dependent.)
  • Frogging. Catch and identify frogs provides for hours of entertainment. There is also a range of children’s books and games available from the library.


Guests can enjoy outings to places of interest and scenic beauty in the area, including the spectacular Panorama Route, during which guests will visit scenic spots such as God’s Window, among others. Guests can also opt for a cultural excursion to one of the nearby African village where they will have the opportunity to interact with the local Shangaan people and even visit a sangoma (medicine man). They will also get a unique insight into local customs and traditions.  


Those who want to practise their swing, can do so at the pristine Leopard Creek Golf course where you might just have to share the greens with a wild animal or two. This magnificent course needs to be experienced by avid golfers. This activity needs to be pre-arranged.
