Our Video is Worth a Thousand Words

Rhino Post Safari Lodge is located in the southern corner of the Kruger National Park in a private wildlife concession called the Mutlumuvi Concession. It spans some 12 000 hectares and shares a 15 kilometre unfenced boundary with the world-famous MalaMala Game Reserve and Sabi Sand Game Reserve..

Rhini Post Safari Lodge is named after a rhino rubbing post which was discovered in the area. A resident rhino had used the tree stump to scratch itself to such an extent it had become smooth and glossy like a lovingly-polished piece of furniture.
The luxury safari lodge exudes a sense of natural elegance. In keeping with the beauty of the wilderness region, Rhino Post Safari Lodge was built using natural materials of stone, wood, thatch and canvas.

Each luxury suite is stylishly decorated with a spacious open-plan bedroom and lounge area opening out onto a large outdoor deck. The view over the pristine bushveld is beautiful.

Rhino Post Safari Lodge is part of a group that is fiercely committed to conservation and making a difference to the local communities living adjacent to the reserve. The private concession is located in the south of the Kruger National Park which is renowned for its lush bushveld vegetation and abundance of game and birds.

Rhino Post Safari Lodge – 8 luxury suites, sleeping up to 16 adults

Rhino Post Safari Lodge was built using natural material of stone, wood, thatch and canvas so the 8 individual units blend in well with the natural bushveld surrounds. Each luxury suite is elevated on stilts and positioned to offer guests a spectacular view of the Mutlumuvi River. Enjoy what the locals call a ‘sofa safari’ from the privacy of your luxury suite.

At the main lodge, meals are served at tables on the outdoor deck set under a magnificent Tamboti tree or in the elegant dining room in cooler weather. You’ll find a large comfortable lounge with a cozy fireplace to relax in after your evening game drive and an extensive wine cellar which stocks the best of South Africa’s premier wine labels.

Connected by raised wooden walkways, these suites are all strategically positioned.

Raised walkways lead guests to their luxury suites; illuminated by battery-power lights for energy efficiency. In each luxury suite, the spacious bedroom adjoins a luxurious en-suite bathroom which is decorated using delicate mosaic designs to give the suite a contemporary touch. The comfortable lounge area leads out onto a lovely viewing deck with a private plunge pool and an outdoor shower that’s surrounded by thick reed poles for your safety. Standing by its eco-tourism philosophy, Rhino Post Safari Lodge doesn’t have air conditioning units in the main lodge and suites. There are overhead fans in the suites to cool down the room on hot summer days.

Children of all ages are welcome at Rhino Post Safari Lodge. In fact, the luxury lodge encourages parents to bring their children to the Kruger National Park to instill in them a love for the bushveld and its precious natural resources. Unfortunately, children under the age of 6 years are not allowed on the game drives unless it’s a private game drive booked using a private open safari vehicle. This is for the safety of your child. Reliable babysitters are available on requests but this service needs to be pre-booked at least 18 hours in advance.

GAME DRIVES

In addition to our wilderness concession, we have exclusive use of some of the Kruger Park public roads at night.  The Kruger Park has strict gate closing times (before sunset) for their rest camps & access gates.  We are allowed to utilise certain public roads for night/evening drives well after gate closing times.  In terms of our ‘tread gently’ policy, we do not allow any off road driving. Game drives are available from Rhino Post Safari Lodge with an alternative option being a full or ½ day game driv e on the Kruger public roads with a picnic lunch en-route.  The full or ½ day option is by prior arrangement.   walkers bush villa sundowners

GOLF AT SKUKUZA

The Kruger National Park has a unique 9-hole golf course (18 tees) near Skukuza rest camp. The course is unfenced & open to the reserve. Prior arrangements are necessary and only available for guests staying at Rhino Post Safari Lodge.

RHINO WALKING SAFARIS

The morning activity at Plains Camp will always be a safari walk, and the afternoon activity will be either a safari walk or game drive (if all the guests request it).  Only one afternoon activity will be carried out at any one time as activities are planned ahead of guests’ arrival to ensure there is no confusion.

THE TRAILS

To ensure a varying and complete concession experience we suggest that guests participate in a trail that encompasses all three experiences, Rhino Post Safari Lodge, Plains Camp (primarily walking) and Sleep Outs, as each is unique. There are several trails available, all of which cater for every possibility; be it one camp, two camps or all three. Suggested trails are: 3 night trail
  • 1 night Rhino Post
  • 2 nights Plains Camp
4 night trail
  • 2 nights Rhino Post
  • 2 nights Plains Camp
