LIFE ENRICHING EXPERIENCES
GAME DRIVES
Game drives, in open safari vehicles, head out each day at sunrise and again in the late afternoon. Lion Sand’s natural animal population includes
the Big Five, and the reserve is especially renowned for the quality of its leopard viewing – the most elusive of predators. With exclusive
traversing rights on both its Sabi Sand and Kruger Park sections, you are assured a truly intimate safari experience. A maximum of 16 vehicles are
allowed out on the reserve at any one time, and the number per sighting is also limited. This ensures the animals feel at ease and you are able to
spend more time with them, observing their natural behaviour.
• Duration: ± 3 hours
• Each game drive includes a hot beverage or sundowner stop in a scenic spot to purely appreciate being in the bush and in moment
• Children 10 years and older are welcome on the twice-daily game drives
• Children of all ages are welcome on private game drives
HIPPO EXPERIENCE
After breakfast, our field guides will take you on a short drive to the Hippo Pools – these are deeper sections of the Sabie River where we know
pods of hippos usually congregate. Take a short walk down to the riverbank from where you can spend time observing these fascinating animals
in their natural environment, and learning more about their behaviour and social interactions in the process.
• Duration: ± 1 hour, depending on animal activity
• Children under 16 years are not permitted on the Hippo Experience
MACK AND MADI FAMILY EXPERIENCE
Inspired by Rob and Britt More’s first-hand understanding of travelling with their twins, Mack and Madi. More options and flexibility around
accommodations, meals, and toddler-to-teen activities give children a little extra freedom to explore and just be kids – and make family travel
child’s play.
Lion Sands’ tailor-made activities keep young guests occupied with the wonders of the natural world, as well as with sports and crafts, during
their stays. Just some of the fun includes: family morning game drives; bush orientation; bug CSI; dung tracking; spoor casting; scavenger hunts;
pool games; rock painting; beading; pizza making in the boma; cookie baking and cupcake decorating in the kitchen; and stargazing. Parents are
welcome to join in, or sneak a few hours for themselves.
WILDLIFE LECTURES
On days when the weather is unsuitable for safari activities, our field guides and trackers present short nature talks. They cover a host of subjects
giving you more insight into the animals you see on safari (e.g. elephant behaviour) and the natural surrounds (e.g. the ecological impact of
commercial lodges on the environment). These are informal presentations, which are largely guided by interactions with guests.
LOCAL COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE
More Community Trust’s (MCT’s) purpose is to empower people in the local communities in which MORE operates. They do this by providing
access to: basic education and childcare; skills development through community-based initiatives; and fresh water. Over the years, MCT has built
close relationships with its local communities, and you are encouraged to visit and roll up your sleeves to help out with upliftment programmes
in place. This gives you the opportunity to experience a different – and humbling – way of living; visit culturally- and historically- significant sites;
and connect with local people, while positively impacting on their lives.
• Duration: 2 to 3 hours
• Children of all ages are welcome to accompany their parents
STARGAZING
During evening game drives or bush dinners (weather permitting), your field guide will share insights into the skies above. The clear air and
minimal light pollution of this remote African wilderness make it an ideal location for stargazing. You will see planets and stars you have never
before seen with the naked eye. Your guide will point out the constellations that shift seasonally and those that are unique to the southern
hemisphere (circumpolar constellations), taking you on an astral safari.
A NIGHT IN A TREE HOUSE
These million-star accommodations – Chalkley and Kingston (Sabi Sand), Tinyeleti (Kruger Park) – are the ultimate bush bedrooms, where
romantics, adventurers and solitude seekers alike can discover the magic of an African night out in the open – in complete luxury. Arrive at sunset
to a picnic dinner, spend the dusk hours watching animals wander past (at a safe distance), and fall asleep counting shooting stars. You can rest
assured that a field guide is always on call via radio should you feel you need assistance.
• A Treehouse Experience is booked in conjunction with lodge accommodation
• A Treehouse stay is charged at a per person sharing per night rate over and above the lodge accommodation rate
• Pack an overnight bag with your essentials, leaving your other belongings back in your suite at the lodge
• Kingston Treehouse and Tinyeleti Treehouse are suitable for families (two adults and two children under 15 years)
SPA & WELLNESS
Take a little me-time out in the quiet hours between game drives to be pampered. Each lodge has its own Africology Spa or Sala set in a secluded
spot, away from the main lodge. A range of body, skin and grooming treatments at the hands of our expert therapists promise a wellness
experience that will relax the body, quiet the mind, and rejuvenate the spirit. And you can rest assured that all Africology products used are
ethically formulated, with the finest natural and organic ingredients, and not tested on animals.
• At an additional cost
Yoga will also find no better place to greet the dawn or end the day with a few sun salutations. There is no need to pack your mat, we have one
to lend you. Choose your spot and practice your discipline in a place where the energy flows pure.
SHOPPING
Onelife MORE Boutique, at each of the lodges, offers a range of proudly African-produced high-end clothing, accessories, art, and mementos
– as well as everyday necessities. “African designers possess a creativity and sense of style that is unique in the world. This is what I want to
showcase through the Onelife MORE Boutique brand.” – The late Britt More, co-founder of MORE
HELICOPTER FLIGHTS
We have partnered with the Mpumalanga Helicopter Company to take you on exhilarating flights over the gorges, rivers, waterfalls, and dramatic
rock formations of the province’s escarpment and lowveld. From above, you will have the best perspective to view (and photograph) some of
the land’s natural wonders, including (but not limited to): the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondawels, Pinnacle, Lisbon Falls, and Hippo Hollow.
Three different experiences can be arranged through MORE Reservations, and booking is dependent on availability and weather conditions.
• At an additional cost
GOLF
The nine-hole Skukuza Golf Course is designed for all levels of skill and is one of the world’s most unique, being surrounded by a wildlife-rich
sanctuary. Hippo, impala, warthog, and baboons often come out to spectate. There are no sand bunkers, although there are ‘aerial bunkers’ in
the form of many trees on the course. Motorised golf carts and pull carts are available for hire, and there is a bar facility for light meals and
refreshments. Bookings can be made through MORE Reservations, and are subject to availability.
