The absence of fences between the Sabi Sand and the Kruger National Park, enable a wide variety of wildlife species to roam freely in this pristine African wilderness.
Here an area of 10 000 hectares (24 700 acres) is traversed at leisure during daily game drives, and strict vehicle limits at sightings ensure the exclusivity of your game-viewing experience.

With only 18 luxurious suites, two perennial rivers, the Sabi and Sand rivers, sustain the diverse fauna and flora of the area, which boasts one of the highest and most bio-diverse wildlife populations in a single African reserve.

Travelling to Kirkman’s Camp is quick and convenient from Johannesburg or Cape Town, as there are daily flights to the Skukuza Airport in the Kruger National Park. A short and scenic drive from this airport gets you to the lodge.

Off-road driving enables the best possible view of any exceptional sighting, and rangers are constantly in touch with one another to keep track of animal movements.

The 18 luxurious suites of Kirkman’s Kamp all pay homage to the Victorian era but are equipped with all the modern creature comforts you can imagine. Each suite has retained its original features from when it was built initially, but boast many modern touches.

Kirkman’s knowledgeable ranger will take guest on early morning and late-afternoon/early evening drives in open safari vehicles during which he will share amazing secrets of the bush which will leave you in complete awe. The experienced tracker will use all his skills to track your favourite animals. In the early morning the bush brims with animal activity as the animals prepare for the onslaught of the sun. Upon your return to camp you can indulge in a hearty breakfast/brunch. As the sun heads for the horizon, it is time for the late afternoon game drive. Again, the animals come out to play and to quench their thirst. So can you, when you sip on a refreshing cocktail whilst appreciating the spectacular African sunset. As darkness sets in, it is time for the nocturnal beasts to prepare for the hunt. Catching a pair of eyes - maybe that of an elusive leopard - in the spotlight, is a thrill like no other.


If adrenaline is what you are after, look no further than taking to the bush on foot. A bushwalk lends a whole new dimension to your safari experience, as it allows you to connect to the wilderness by involving all the senses. In the company of an armed ranger, you will have the opportunity to interact with the inhabitants of this wilderness, up close and personal.  


Every morning after brunch, you will have a unique opportunity to experience the wilderness from a whole new perspective on a bush walk under the guidance of an experience and armed field guide. This is a unique opportunity to discover the hidden secrets of this pristine wilderness’ fauna and flora. The duration of the walk is approximately one hour. During a guided bush walk you will discover and learn to appreciate nature’s intricacies.In addition, Lions Sands Tinga Lodge also gives you the opportunity to participate in night walks during which you will discover South Africa's starry sky.
